Action Plan

At the end of each session, identify three actionable steps you will take to enhance your leadership skills.

Creating Your Action Plan

1. Reflect on Key Learnings

After each session, take time to reflect on the main insights and how they apply to your current leadership challenges and opportunities. Identify which concepts or strategies resonated most with you.

2. Assess Your Leadership Skills

Utilise the self-assessment portion of the training to honestly evaluate your strengths and areas for improvement. Prioritise skills or behaviours that you believe will have the most significant impact on your effectiveness as a leader.

3. Set Specific Goals

For each area of improvement identified, set specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time-bound (SMART) goals. For example, if you want to improve your listening skills, a goal could be, "I will practice active listening in all my meetings over the next month, ensuring to summarise points made by others to confirm understanding."

Implementing Your Action Plan

1. Plan for Action

Break down each goal into actionable steps. If your goal is to enhance team trust, one action might be to schedule regular one-on-one meetings with team members.

2. Seek Feedback

Inform a trusted colleague or mentor about your goals and ask for their feedback and support. Regular check-ins can provide accountability and insights into your progress.

3. Celebrate Successes

Recognise both your achievements and those of your peers. Celebrating milestones, no matter how small, fosters a positive and supportive learning environment.

Continuous Improvement

The action plan is not a one-time exercise but a cycle of continuous improvement. As you grow and evolve as a leader, your goals will shift. Revisit your action plan regularly, incorporating new learnings and feedback, to ensure that your leadership journey is always moving forward.

This training is designed to be a collaborative and evolving journey. Your participation, insights, and willingness to grow are key to its success. We look forward to supporting you in becoming a more effective leader.

Additional Resources

Simon Sinek is widely recognised for his thought-provoking work on leadership, organisational culture and the psychology of motivation. His books and talks offer deep insights into how leaders can inspire cooperation, trust and change.

Here are some of his most recommended readings:

1. Start With Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action

Overview: Sinek introduces the concept of the Golden Circle, explaining how leaders can inspire action by first articulating the why behind their organisation or movement. This book delves into how understanding your purpose can significantly impact how you lead and communicate.

2. Leaders Eat Last: Why Some Teams Pull Together and Others Don’t

Overview: Focusing on the importance of creating a culture of trust and safety, Sinek explores how leaders can foster environments where team members feel valued and protected. This leads to more cohesive, loyal and high-performing teams.

3. The Infinite Game

Overview: In this book, Sinek contrasts finite games (with clear winners, losers and end points) with infinite games (where the goal is to keep playing). He argues that business and leadership are infinite games where the focus should be on long-term vision rather than short-term gains. This perspective encourages leaders to build more sustainable, innovative and inspiring organizations.
